Biography

Dr. Jennifer Pearson graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and animal science. Afterwards, she received her DVM from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating, she started a one year internship at Cornell University in the Ambulatory and Production Medicine service and then stayed on for a residency in Ambulatory and Production Medicine and Theriogenology. She became board certified through the American College of Theriogenologists in 2018. Jennifer completed her PhD at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine investigating the impacts of calving management, calf risk factors, and difficult calving on the health and performance of beef calves in 2019. She recently worked at the University of Calgary as a post-doctoral scholar investigating methods to measure beef cattle behaviour and was a sessional instructor for the Clinical Theriogenology course and Clinical Skills labs. Jennifer is currently an Assistant Professor in Bovine Health Management, WA Ranches at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Activities

Dr. Jennifer Pearson's current research projects focus on cow-calf health and reproductive management practices such as: the effects of calving difficulty in the cow and calf; pain mitigation practices; maternal-neonatal bonding; bull health and lameness during the breeding season; and bull fertility and siring capacity.
