Jared Secord is the Coordinator of Scholars Programs at the University of Calgary. A three-time graduate of the university, Jared returned to Calgary in 2018 after teaching at the University of Chicago and Washington State University.
At the Student Success Centre, Jared works closely with students who are interested in applying to graduate or professional school. Jared also supports the application process for major scholarships, including the Rhodes and McCall MacBain.
Outside of work, Jared is still involved in academic research and writing. His first book, Christian Intellectuals and the Roman Empire: From Justin Martyr to Origen, was published in 2020 by the Pennsylvania State University Press. His second book, Medicine, Health, and Healing in the Ancient Mediterranean, 500 BCE--600 CE: A Sourcebook, co-authored with Kristi Upson-Saia (Occidental College) and Heidi Marx (University of Manitoba), was published in 2023 by the University of California Press.
