Dr. Wu completed radiation oncology residency training in Vancouver in 1998, after which he underwent 18 months of clinical fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital, subspecialising in GU and Palliative Radiation Oncology. As junior radiation oncologist at the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre, he contributed to clinical practice guidelines development in palliative radiation therapy for bone pain. Since then, he participated in various academic and research committees through the Royal College and the Canadian Clinical Trials Group. During the past 15 years as clinical oncologist in GU and palliative radiotherapy at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, he had a unique opportunity to relearn the science of clinical research through graduate studies in clinical epidemiology, through which he acquired intellectual freedom to challenge clinical dogmas, and to adjust his clinical approach towards patient-oriented care. Since 2011, he has served as associate chair to the Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta (Cancer Committee), and since January 2017, he has been a designated oncology support, as a MAID assessor and provider, to the Central-Calgary zonal MAID Coordination Services.
