Biography

Jackie Sieppert is a Professor, Faculty of Social Work, at the University of Calgary. Dr. Sieppert served two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, leading Canada’s largest social work degree program. Dr. Sieppert’s research interests include community development with seniors, dynamics of successful collaboration, and digital storytelling. He was a co-lead on the internationally recognized Elder Friendly Communities Program, and facilitator for a ground-breaking digital storytelling program. Dr. Sieppert has been a Board member and Board Chair for multiple nonprofit organizations. In 2018 he was admitted to the Order of the University of Calgary for exemplary service to the university and our community. That same year he was gifted with a Blackfoot name - Oot’soo Piik’sii (Shore Bird) in recognition of his work to support reconciliation. He is also a very proud UofC alumnus, having completed both his BSW and MSW degrees at the Faculty of Social Work.
