Biography

Irfan Sattar is a Calgary-based scholar-practitioner and Urdu poet whose work sits at the intersection of leadership studies, arts-based inquiry, and cross-cultural marketing. Drawing on three decades of corporate‐leadership experience and a parallel career as a published poet, his research explores how sustained engagement with poetry shapes executives’ identity, moral imagination, and decision-making across Urdu and English literary traditions. His broader interests include the diffusion of ethnic food brands into mainstream Canadian markets and the ethics of pharmaceutical marketing in Pakistan. Methodologically, Irfan specializes in qualitative approaches, hermeneutic phenomenology, narrative analysis, and Gioia’s data-structure framework, while maintaining fluency in Stata-based quantitative techniques. He is currently developing his DBA dissertation, Verse and Vision: Exploring the Influence of Poetic Engagement on Leadership Development Across Urdu and English Literary Traditions, under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Keyhani (Haskayne School of Business).
