Biography
Geoff is a Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at MyHEAT Inc (a University of Calgary Startup) and a Professor of GIScience at the University of Calgary, transitioning to Professor Emeritus in June 2027.

MyHEAT grew from the HEAT (Heat Energy Assessment Technologies) research program I established at the University of Calgary in 2008. Since 2015, the company has used proprietary nighttime airborne thermal imagery to help cities and communities understand building energy loss at scale. Its data now covers more than 50 cities across Canada and the United States, including over 40,000 km², 10 million buildings, and a population of more than 30 million people.
The aim is simple: make thermal energy visible and thermal insights actionable. Thermal insights can support households and cities identify energy loss, improve comfort, reduce waste, and lower costs.
I remain closely involved with MyHEAT while looking ahead to new opportunities.
