Biography

Dr. Elijah Dixon is a Professor of Surgery, Oncology and Community Health Sciences. He is a practicing surgeon at Foothill Medical Centre with a focus in Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic Surgery. He was drawn to the field of surgery early on in Medical School, where he further drawn to the area of oncology. After completing his Masters in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, he returned to the University of Calgary in 2004 to begin in his role as Section Chief of General Surgery. Through his research, he is working on identifying improved outcomes for cancer patients.

Dr. Dixon is a founding member of CHAPPS, an organization developed to fund research and improve outcomes for current and future cancer patients.

Summary of Research

Dr. Dixon's research interests include the development of quality indicators of care for patients undergoing hepatic resection for metastatic colorectal cancer. He conducts clinical research, particular in the area of hepato-pancreatico-biliary surgery.
