Biography

Dr. Doug Stewart obtained his medical degree from the University of Alberta in 1987, completed Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology Residencies at the University of Ottawa, and then a Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Lymphoma Management with Dr. James Armitage and the staff at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Since July 1994, Dr. Stewart has been practicing Medical Oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary where he is a member of the Hematology and Breast Tumor Groups, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, and from 1999 to 2016 led the Provincial Hematology Tumor Team in Alberta. He is a Professor in the Departments of Oncology and Medicine at the University of Calgary, and completed two terms as the Hematology Division Chief in 2013.

Summary of Research

Dr. Stewart's research interests involving lymphoma and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation have resulted in over 135 peer-reviewed manuscript publications. In October 2017, he took on the new role of Senior Medical Lead, Cancer SCN.
