Biography

Darius Delon is a distinguished risk and insurance management consultant, innovator, and a prominent figure in the Canadian risk management community. He currently serves as the President for the Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta (IISA), and has held esteemed positions such as Past-Chair of the RIMS Canada Council (RCC) and Past-President of the Southern Alberta Risk and Insurance Management Society (SARIMS).

With a robust career spanning various high-profile roles, Darius has been the risk manager for The Katz Group (Oilers), Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), Triovest Realty Advisors, Mount Royal University, the Calgary Board of Education, and the University of Lethbridge. His journey began as an insurance adjuster, progressing through commercial underwriting to become a commercial broker, where he earned his Canadian Certified Insurance Broker (CCIB) designation in 1996.

Darius is one of only 104 Risk and Insurance Management Society - Certified Risk Management Professionals (RIMS-CRMP) in Canada, (1038 globally), contributing significantly to the development of the certified professional concept and criteria. 

A passionate educator, Darius has dedicated over 20 years to teaching Insurance and Risk Management. He has imparted his knowledge and expertise through various esteemed institutions, including the Insurance Institute of Canada, The University of Calgary, York University—where he developed the online Risk Finance Course—and Bow Valley College, where he created the online CRM curriculum for all three courses. His commitment to education and mentorship has made a lasting impact on countless students and professionals in the field.
