Summary of Research

Clinical Epidemiology

What is the incidence of disease and geographic variation of disease within Alberta? My lab uses geospatial mapping techniques to address this question.

Patterns of Laboratory Test Use

Who orders laboratory tests, who receives laboratory tests and how do these vary based on sociodemographic factors and geographic area?

Utility and Appropriateness of Laboratory Testing

How useful are the tests that are ordered, what is the effect if over- and under-utilization of lab tests on health outcomes?

Adverse Drug Reactions

How can ADRs be detected using administrative data? What are the rates of ADRs? How can lab testing be optimally used to detect ADRs?

Big Data Modelling of Laboratory Data

How can big data approaches be used to develop novel ways to interpret lab tests?

Precision Population Health

How can lab data be leveraged to individualize treatment in cardiovascular health, antimicrobial treatment, and diabetes management?
