Biography

Chetna Khandelwal(She/Her) is a PhD student at the Department of Sociology, University of Calgary. She is a qualitative researcher interested in social movements, activism, Southern theory, immigration, marginal feminist place-making, critical phenomenology, and speciesism. Chetna received her BA in Sociology from the University of Warwick and her MA in Sociology from the University of Calgary.

Chetna has previously studied networked immigration social movements in India and the USA, as well as animal rights movements in the UK. She employs critical discourse analysis and qualitative content analysis to study collective displays of political resistance. Her doctoral work incorporates more participatory forms of research in pursuance of community-led scholarship.
