My research focuses on advancing Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic Imaging (MRSI) technology to improve its sensitivity, robustness, and efficiency, specifically for pediatric brain imaging.  By developing novel MR hardware and sequences, my goal is to create a reliable, multimodal MRSI/MRI platform capable of capturing the unique and evolving brain chemistry in pediatric populations, which can provide new insights into brain maturation and the underlying mechanisms of developmental disorders.

Recruitment

Join our innovative research team to develop cutting-edge MRI techniques aimed at improving pediatric neuroimaging. We are seeking passionate undergraduate and graduate students in electrical/biomedical engineering to work on projects involving MRI hardware and methods development to advance imaging technologies.

Prospective students are expected to possess excellent analytical skills, have experience with MATLAB programming  (or equivalent), and be able to work in a collaborative environment. Students interested in MR hardware development are expected to have experience in analog electronics and circuit design; exposure to RF electronics design is a bonus.

Project Areas:

  • MRI Hardware Development: Work on cutting-edge projects involving gradient, B0 shim, and RF hardware design and development.
  • MR Sequence Development: Develop accelerated and robust MRI sequences tailored for pediatric neuroimaging.

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology and contribute to impactful research at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
  • Collaborative and supportive research environment.

Interested candidates are encouraged to email Dr. Chathu Kumaragamage (Chathura.kumaragamag@ucalgary.ca) with their up-to date CV and transcripts.
