Catherine Valestuk

Biography

Catherine practiced law in the areas of estates, trusts, pensions and benefits from 1992-2008 at two leading national law firms. From 2008 2012, Catherine worked in law firm administration at the Calgary office of a national law firm focusing on the recruitment, mentoring and professional development of students and associates. Catherine returned to the practice of law in 2013 at a small law firm specializing in estate planning for high net worth clients. In 2014 Catherine commenced her current role at the University Of Calgary Faculty Of Law.

Catherine was recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada in 2006 in the category of Employment Benefit Law. She is a past co-Chair of the CBA Law Administration and Technology section as well as a past Director of the Alberta Ballet Foundation where she chaired the Planned Giving sub-Committee. More Recently, Catherine was a member of the Law School Admission Council Test Development & Research Committee from 2016-2019 and is currently a member of LSAC’s Emerging Markets and Innovation Committee. She is also a member of the law faculty EDI Committee.
