Biography

I am a Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation. I received an honours degree in Medicine from University College Cork, Ireland, and certificate of higher specialist training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland as well as a Masters of Science in Clinical Research with University College Dublin, Ireland. I am presently enrolled with the University of Calgary, Cummings School of Medicine completing a Clinical Fellowship in Brain Injury Rehabilitation.

Post graduate medical training included experience in general and orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, stroke medicine, palliative medicine, as well as neurorehabilitation, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, limb amputation rehabilitation and Neuro-disability care.

My current research focuses on understanding the values and perspectives of key stakeholders who may directly benefit from the development of novel investigation approaches in traumatic brain injury, with the goal of leveraging available technologies to enhance care for survivors of concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI)

Projects

Imaging for TBI Study

We are recruiting for a study looking to improve how we provide information on imaging for survivors of concussion or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and their loved ones or carers, as well as health care, legal and insurance professionals.

We are inviting individuals for an online interview and focus group to share their personal experience of concussion or TBI, or looking after others with TBI or concussion. We will provide the opportunity for people to share their thoughts on what information is important to them when considering future types of brain scans and investigations. The discussions may take up to 1.5 hours of their time.

You may be eligible to take part if :

  • You or a loved one sustained a concussion or TBI, and the diagnosis was at least 6 weeks ago.

                                 OR

  • You are a professional working in the healthcare, insurance or legal field regularly working with survivors of TBI or concussion.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with stable internet connection.
