Biography
Caralyn Bencsik is an adult critical care Nurse Practitioner with Alberta Health Services at the Foothills Medical Center and Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Cumming School of Medicine and Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Calgary. She studied undergraduate nursing at Bow Valley College (Practical Nurse Diploma) and Athabasca University (Bachelor of Nursing). She attended the University of Calgary for graduate studies and post graduate Nurse Practitioner certification. While at the University of Calgary her academic focus was understanding the role of Nurse Practitioners in critical care settings and her clinical focus was neurocritical care. She has several certifications in brain death determination and neurocritical care. At this time she focuses her research on post cardiac arrest multimodal neuroprognostication and the impact of Nurse Practitioners in ICU settings. She has multiple peer reviewed publications.
In her personal time she enjoys riding her young horse Victor and developing him as a show jumper.
