Biography
Ms. Buffy St-Amand is the Senior Director of International and Senior Internationalization Officer at the University of Calgary. In this role, she leads a team dedicated to advancing the university’s global engagement efforts, which include developing and managing global academic and research partnerships, fostering international relations, and spearheading strategic global initiatives.
With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Ms. St-Amand has worked with numerous international NGOs and universities both in Canada and abroad, including in Brazil, Dominican Republic, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Tanzania. Her expertise spans international trade, global affairs, partnerships, strategic planning, and leadership development.
Ms. St-Amand holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Université de Moncton, a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP®) designation, certification as a Partnership Broker from the International Partnership Brokers Association in the UK, and a certificate in Non-Profit Executive Leadership.
Passionate about community and global engagement, she represents the University as an institutional ambassador for the Association of Commonwealth Universities and mentors’ students through UCalgary’s Scholars' Academy Mentorship Program. Additionally, she actively contributes to a range of internal and external committees. In 2011, Ms. St-Amand was recognized as one of Calgary's Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue magazine for her career achievements and community contributions.
