Biography
Dr. Petri is the Scientific Director of the Mouse Phenomics Resource Laboratory since January 2011. He obtained his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Immunology/Cell Biology and Genetics from the Westfalian Wilhelms-University and the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany. Before he started his studies in the field of Immunology Dr. Petri obtained his MSc (Diploma) in Zoology and Physiology at the Max- Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim and the Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany. He can look back at over 20 years of in vivo experience working with rodent models in the field of physiology and immunology.
Between 2007 and 2010 he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (AHFMR/AIHS) in the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases where he continued to strengthen his expertise in the field of Immunology and its related research models and imaging techniques.
Dr. Petri is one of the Cumming School of Medicine Faculty Council representatives for adjunct members of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases and the IoR for MDSC640: Introduction to Immunology.
Projects
The Mouse Phenomics Resource Laboratory is providing experimental support and is performing research in the field of acute and chronic inflammation and infection, cancer related immunity, pharmacology, and other related research areas. The mission of the Mouse Phenomics resource laboratory is to assist researchers in the institute and foster collaborations to promote high quality, world-class research by providing support for their own driven in vivo models of interest and by generating additional data with novel in vivo screens which will contribute to their scientific success and enhance the Snyder Institutes research effort.
These additional and novel data are achieved and generated via general (i.e. basic phenotypic parameters), specific (i.e. murine models of human chronic diseases) and newly developed in vivo phenotyping screens (i.e. new screens using state of the art imaging techniques) under acute and chronic conditions in the field of inflammation and infection and related diseases.
