Biography
Dr. Dahal is a critical academic integrity scholar who investigates how artificial intelligence, institutional policy, and unequal knowledge systems are transforming the meaning of learning, authorship, legitimacy, and participation in social epistemology. He completed a PhD in Leadership, Policy, and Governance at the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education, with doctoral research examining how academic integrity intersects with epistemic (in)justice and mental health experiences. His work bridges Western and Global South epistemologies to develop theory that challenges conventional assumptions about how educational institutions define knowledge, legitimacy, integrity, and evidence, particularly for international and historically marginalized learners, without reproducing epistemic inequalities.
Dr. Dahal’s scholarly work has been published by notable academic presses including Canadian Science Publishing, Springer, Routledge, Bloomsbury, Policy Press, and Oxford Academic. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of Academic Ethics, FACETS, and Research Evaluation, and has contributed to handbooks with Springer (Second Handbook of Academic Integrity), Bloomsbury (Handbook of Creative Research Methods), and Routledge (Handbook of Teaching Qualitative and Mixed Research Methods). Dr. Dahal serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal for Educational Integrity and as an editorial board member for the Journal of Creative Research Methods.
