Biography

Dr. Howarth received his M.D. from the University of British Columbia and his Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Alberta. His PhD dissertation was on the cell biology of the tight junction associated protein ZO-1. He holds board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Since 2007, Dr Howarth has been a Researcher and Clinical Cardiologist at the University of Calgary's Libin Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Howarth is currently the Clinical Co- Director of the Stephenson CMR Center and has clinical and research interests in both Cardiac MRI and Cardiac Coronary Angiography.

Dr. Howarth's primary research interests are in vascular biology and the role of intra-myocardial hemorrhage following myocardial infarction.
