Biography

Dr. Amuchou Soraisham is a Professor of Pediatrics at Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada and staff neonatologist with Alberta Health Services, Calgary. He did undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate pediatric (MD) training from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India, followed by DM Neonatology  from PGI, Chandigarh and completed fellowship training in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine at University of Calgary, Canada. He has been trained in Perinatal Epidemiology and got his MSc in Clinical epidemiology.

 

He was the Medical Director for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre between 2018 and 2024. Currently he is the Research Director  of the Section of Newborn Critical Care Calgary Zone,  and Director for  Calgary Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography program. He is also a founding member of Calgary Sonographic Clinical Assessment of Newborn (SCAN) program and involve in teaching all over the world.

Dr. Soraisham is Co-chair of Neonatal Resuscitation Program of the Canadian Pediatric Society.

His main research interests include neonatal health outcome, neonatal hemodynamic studies, neurodevelopmental outcome, family integrated care and perinatal epidemiology.

His passions include teaching medical students, residents and allied health professionals. He received many awards of excellence for his teaching.
