Biography

Alex Paquette received a B.Sc. in Biology and a M.Sc. in Cell and Systems Biology from the University of Toronto. He is completing his PhD in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary, where his research encompasses microalgal biotechnology, microbiology, and renewable energy. Alex has held student leadership positions at the University of Toronto Mississauga and at the University of Calgary through his roles on the graduate students’ associations. Alex brings an array of experiences in student affairs through his positions with Residence Services and most recently, as a Student Experience Specialist in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. He has a keen interest in providing academic support and facilitating professional development and experiential learning opportunities for students. Alex is also passionate about supporting and advocating for postsecondary students with disabilities. His passion stems from his lived experiences navigating postsecondary education as a neurodivergent individual.
