Background

Biography

Dr. Aleksi gained her MD degree and Cardiology Specialty Certification in Europe, where she also pursued a Fellowship & Master of Sciences focused on "Advanced cardiac imaging". Upon moving to Canada, she completed additional post-graduate residency training in Internal Medicine, followed by Medical Oncology, at University of Calgary. She pursued niche sub-specialty training and completed 2 clinical fellowships, in Thoracic & Neuro Endocrine tumors, as well as Theranostics and Cardio-Oncology. She spent additional training time outside of Calgary, both in Edmonton and Michigan, US. Dr. Aleksi is currently a practicing Medical Oncologist at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary, treating Neuroendocrine Tumors & H&N cancers.

Dr. Aleksi is a strong advocate of PRRT & Theranostic, with a specific interest in radio-ligand based applications for both diagnosing and treatment of cancers. She has spearheaded a few provincial initiatives in collaboration with the NET team in Calgary. She is the Lead of Neuro-Endocrine Awareness Campaign, having launched the first NET Patients Awareness Committee, the first comprehensive NET database and the first NET fundraising campaign. She is the President of the newly founded Canadian Cancer Theranostics Foundation (CCTF). Dr. Aleksi is involved in numerous educational activities with University of Calgary and sits in a few provincial and national boards. She has presented both locally and internationally on precision oncology. Her research focus involves radioligand therapy with a particular interest in bringing new therapeutic clinical trials involving PRRT applications in NETS and beyond. She is also interested in building Databanks. She is actively involved in multiple Ph III clinical trials at the Arthur Child.
