Biography
Philip is a Haskayne School of Business PhD candidate specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation topics.
His research deals with the social interactions that animate and propel entrepreneurship and innovation within geographic contexts. Philip’s current research interests include the learning and innovation activities (innovation modes) of small firms across geography; the evolution of entrepreneurial ecosystems, particularly through triggering events; and the cocreation of advice for nascent entrepreneurs. His research has been presented at the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference, the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada annual conference.
Previously, Philip was a sessional instructor for Haskayne’s ENTI 201 (Introduction to New Business Venturing) for the Winter 2022 and Winter 2023 terms.
He holds master's and bachelor's degrees in business administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he was a planning analyst for the Fisheries and Marine Institute at Memorial University.
